When the city transforms into the perfect backdrop for a love story, the result is unforgettable. Such was the wedding of Sonnja and Alexis, an event that not only united two souls but also wove a romantic and timeless narrative in the heart of Mexico City’s Historic Center.
Casa Seminario, with its history embedded in every corner, became the ideal venue for a celebration where flowers, decor, and love complemented the classic architecture of the space.
An Unexpected Proposal
Sonnja and Alexis met in college, studying the same major but in different years. The couple admitted they had been drawn to each other for a long time. After eight years together, Alexis decided it was time to take their story to the next chapter with a proposal in Chapultepec Forest, a natural haven for their love and adventures with their dogs.
“It was completely unexpected,” Sonnja confessed. “I can still feel my heart racing.
The Perfect Space in the Heart of Mexico City
After months of searching, Sonnja stumbled upon a photo of Casa Seminario and was mesmerized. This historic venue, with its restored furniture and windows offering iconic views of the Zócalo, the Sagrario Metropolitano, and the Templo Mayor, became the perfect setting.
“We wanted a place that resonated with its own rhythm,” they shared. And that is precisely what they found.
The central courtyard, with its elongated shape, was the ideal space for a grand imperial table that brought their 80 guests together for a warm and intimate dinner.
Dözna Estudio Floral: The Perfect Partner for Decoration
The decor was a visual poem. Dözna Estudio Floral designed arrangements that appeared to be gathered from a wild garden, featuring Cosmos, Amaranthus, and Anthuriums in shades of yellow. They transformed the courtyard into a warm and natural setting, with long candles illuminating hand-painted clay bowls and textured tableware that perfectly complemented crystal and silver accents. Every detail reflected the couple’s essence: familial, welcoming, and authentically beautiful.
“We wanted everything to feel like we had taken what we had at hand, but with impeccable intention,” Sonnja explained.

The Greatest Challenge and the Best Reward
Adapting a historic venue like Casa Seminario for a wedding was a logistical challenge. From coordinating within Perimeter A to navigating the logistics of a bustling city and managing a space not originally designed for events, the planning required creativity and discipline.
However, for the couple, the most rewarding aspect was designing every detail. Sonnja immersed herself in creating the color palette, stationery, and, most importantly, the floral arrangements, which became the visual heart of their wedding.
An Unforgettable Day
Sonnja and Alexis close this chapter with deep gratitude to all the vendors who made their dream tangible. Their wedding was not only a beautiful event but also a tribute to teamwork and the magic that happens when love and art converge.
“Casa Seminario was the stage, but Dözna Estudio Floral created the atmosphere. Together, they made this day more than perfect: they made it ours.”
