Some love stories feel written by fate, and Sonali and Roger’s journey is exactly that. From an impulsive 12-hour drive from Chicago to New York for a bowl of ramen — to a romantic proposal in Mexico City — every twist of their story seems guided by serendipity. Twelve years later, their love came full circle in San Miguel de Allende, where they celebrated their wedding surrounded by 250 loved ones in a vibrant, heartfelt celebration planned by Lucero Alvarez Planner.

For Sonali and Roger, Mexico has always felt like home — a place filled with color, culture, and warmth. “San Miguel felt like a mirror of ourselves,” Sonali shared. “Quiet and unassuming on the outside, but full of life and beauty within.” Their wedding embodied exactly that: a seamless blend of elegance, emotion, and deep cultural appreciation.
The weekend unfolded across some of San Miguel’s most iconic venues. The Instituto de Allende set the tone for the welcome party — an art-filled evening beneath a starlit sky, where history and hospitality intertwined effortlessly. The wedding day took place at Luna Escondida, a venue that captured Sonali’s heart the moment she saw it. With its butterfly gardens, fountains, and fairytale courtyards, the setting felt like it had been designed just for them.

Lucero Alvarez Planner transformed Luna into a dreamscape of romance — lush florals, glowing candlelight, and natural textures that felt alive in the soft San Miguel breeze. Each space was crafted with intention: an altar that seemed to grow from the earth, tables that glowed under the stars, and details that reflected both of their worlds coming together. The atmosphere balanced intimacy and grandeur, tradition and modernity, culture and connection.
More than just a wedding, the night became a celebration of unity — of people from different countries and generations gathering in love. “There will be a day when all the little details fade,” Sonali said, “but the warmth and light that people pour into you… that stays forever.”

A weekend full of emotion, laughter, and the unmistakable soul of San Miguel de Allende — beautifully orchestrated by Lucero Alvarez Planner, whose vision turned a love story into an unforgettable experience.
