Megan & Naweed’s wedding was the ultimate blend of enchanting charm, heartfelt moments, and vibrant energy, all set against the stunning backdrop of Villa La Joya in the Riviera Maya. Their love story, which began with a playful matchmaking at a wedding, blossomed into a shared adventure filled with laughter, travel, and unforgettable experiences.
Reflecting on how they met, Megan shares, “We owe it all to our friends Nikki and James, who paired us up to walk down the aisle at their wedding in Jamaica. After that, it was history! On our second date, we spontaneously booked a trip to Seattle—that set the tone for our relationship: outgoing, laid-back, and full of good vibes.” This adventurous spirit carried over to their proposal, which took place in the breathtaking setting of Lake Como, Italy, during a private boat ride.
When it came to planning their special day, Megan and Naweed envisioned something that was both intimate and awe-inspiring—a true celebration of their journey together. Villa La Joya became their dream venue, blending old-world elegance reminiscent of Italy (a nod to their engagement) with the natural beauty and warm hospitality of Mexico.
Their wedding style was a tale of two aesthetics: bold and dreamy. For the ceremony, a striking blue arch served as the centerpiece, evoking a “wow” factor that perfectly captured Megan’s vision. To contrast this boldness, the reception took on a garden-party feel, with airy greens, soft pinks, and candlelit tables creating a romantic, ethereal atmosphere. Megan describes the dual aesthetics as “Why have one when you can have both?”
The couple’s outfits were equally memorable. Megan, who initially imagined herself in a lacey, fitted gown, was surprised to fall in love with a Cinderella-style satin dress by WONA, complete with pockets. “I truly felt like a princess!” she says. Meanwhile, Naweed donned a custom black tuxedo by Gary Franzen Custom Clothing, with a sweet touch: their wedding date sewn into the lapel.
The menu, crafted by Chef Tomas Soberanis, featured standout dishes like Baja-style mini shrimp tacos and cauliflower aguachile, with a classic yet charming three-tiered cake to cap it off. Later in the evening, a churro cart became a guest favorite, adding a playful touch to the reception.
Every magical detail was captured by Luxart Wedding Studio, whose editorial and candid approach brought the couple’s story to life. “Abi and Gon made us feel so at ease—it was like working with close friends. Their warmth helped create such a relaxed vibe, not just for us but for everyone there,” Megan shares.
From their first dance to “Dandelions” by Ruth B., to the thoughtful touches like a checkered dance floor wrapped in greenery, every aspect of Megan & Naweed’s wedding was a reflection of their love—a perfect blend of heart, humor, and joy.
